
PRECIOUSNYARUWA
Precious Nyaruwa is a LLB graduate from the the University of South Africa.She is a human rights consultant currently studying a Master of Laws in Human Rights.
Her areas of interests are international human rights, medical law, private international law, good governance and peace. She has done courses namely Good Governance After Conflict:Guiding Principle, Good Governance After Conflict:Building Institutions for Reform and Negotiations: Shaping the Conflict Landscape with the United States Institute of Peace which dealt with Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration.
She was a Research Intern at Safe N Happy Periods and did a project on the menstrual health of women. The project focused on ensuring menstrual health to be considered as a basic human right by the state governments and that there should be a free supply of sanitary pads especially to designated areas such as rural areas and villages to ensure good sanitation and promotion of girl child education.
She completed a Human Rights Education Training with US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights.
She attended a Regional Training for Statelessness and Migration in Southern Africa For Young Lawyers coordinated by Lawyers for Human Rights, Center for Child Law and Center for Human Rights Migration Unit.
Precious successfully got awarded a certificate for completing the Summer School for Refugee Rights and Migration with the theme: Conflicts as a Cause of displacement. In partnership with UNHCR(The UN Refugee Agency), European Union, International Institute of Humanitarian Law and Refugee Law and Migration Center (Dean of the Faculty of Law “Iustinianus Primus” - Skopje).
She took part in the Mentee Cohort 1 Program with the African International Humanitarian Law Initiative(AIHLI), which focused on Africa’s Peace and Security.
She completed a Mentee program offered by South African Charter of International Association of Women.
She also completed the Cohort 30 of the Introduction to Leadership programme held by WEDU.
She volunteered with the Johannesburg Attorneys’ Association in the probono JAA Johannesburg Magistrates Court Filing Project.
She was donor and a campaign organizer for the Youth Empowerment Foundation and a editorial board member at Legalshala.
She is currently a member of NAMATI, CIVICUS, HAKI AFRICA, BLASC(Black Lawyers Association Student Chapter),AIHLI (African International Humanitarian Law Initiative).
Precious is hard working, bold,energetic, highly ambitious and diligent in any task or project given to her. She loves working and engaging with diverse communities.
The definition for success to her is making an impact in people’s lives and ensuring that the world becomes a better place to stay. For the meantime she does not have an organization but she would like to open an non-governmental organization in the future. She would like to learn, be involved and connect with other experts that are in the legal profession.
