Hiring | Remote | Law + Environment Position | 1-3 months | Third Pole nations | 20 Hours/Week

Hello community members,

Greetings, Tashi Delek and Namaste from Dharamshala, India!

We at Himalayan Advocacy Center are hiring for two legal research interns from third pole nations including Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan and the Xinjiang and Tibet autonomous regions of China. We welcome applications from recent graduates and students with a reasonable knowledge of and interest in environmental law and policy issues.

Your tasks will revolve around pulling out and collating primary sources of information depicting the state of the third pole environment (also known as high mountain Asia or Hindu Kush Himalayas). This will involve parliamentary reports and statements, government reports, court orders, bilateral or multilateral communiques, ministerial statements, climate disclosures, community interviews, surveys and so forth having their origin within Third Pole nations.

Your work will culminate in the third edition of our handbook covering Asian Nations on the Third Pole. This is an increase in ambition for us here at the Center, having previously covered Indian Courts on the Himalayan region, considering the larger scope of the third pole and need for us Asians to take ownership and look at it from a unified lens.

Please note that professional competence in english is a mandatory requirement for these positions. For testimonials from past interns and more about us, please refer to our notion job board and website. For more context on our day to day working, join our public whatsapp channel here.

For questions and to apply, send your one page CV along with a few words on demonstrable interest at himalayanadvocacy@gmail.com. Feel free to drop a line at our IG @hiadce.
